Of course, we have a few things to say so read
Over the course of the last year, I've made
several marketing suggestions.
1. Keywords in Content
2. Keywords in Browser Title, Meta Tags, and on page
3. Email Your Shoppers
4. Go Local with Yahoo Local and Google Local
5. Local Marketing.
6. Cross Selling with Sales from Other Venues
7. And More.
We hope that this has helped some of you. I have recently
made another suggestion and want to pass that on. I do not
know if it is a sound idea, but it is an idea.
Here it is, please take it with a grain of salt.
I had several questions regarding the placement of a store's
domain name in the search results of search engines. As
I've mentioned before, we have no control over how search engines
index web pages, how quickly they index pages (or update changed
pages) nor do we have control over where those pages come up in
But when I received these questions, I thought, why not look at
the domain names coming up on the first pages of search results
and compare with your store's web pages. Look at the use of
keywords, the browser title, the meta tags (you can view source
on most web pages), and how often those keywords show in the page
What is different from your store's use of keywords over the
domains that come up on the first pages? Maybe there is
something else that you see besides the use of keywords?
If you could identify anything significant and implement that
into your store then maybe it will help when it comes to finding
your store in search results. You might implement it into
the product descriptions as well.
Is this an original idea? Probably not but I pass it
along anyway because there maybe a few of you out there it might
As I said before, owning an online store is not like a Field
of Dreams. Just because you build it does not mean they
will come. An online business is the same as any other business,
there will always be a need to market your store.
We look forward to serving you in 2011 and are very excited about the future. The best
is yet to come!!!!
