Testimonials From ChrisLands' Store Owners

ChrisLands Compared to Other Bookstore Options

I worked for months developing my own site with a software program I bought. I spent hundreds of hours on it, thinking to myself that all my time would pay off in the end. I did not realize I was wasting my time- my precious time. Time I could have spent doing more productive things.

The web site was workable until it came time to figure out the database aspect of it. Basically, it was no easy task. I read about creating a database- visited several sites- printed out and read a lot of information- also bought a couple of programs I thought would work----but when it came right down to it, it was not something I could do. It was too hard and would take too much time. I figured it would take months for me to create and fine tune. I thought about hiring someone, but that would be too much of an expense and I really couldn't do it at that time.

For months, while researching the bookselling business, Chrislands was a name that was mentioned often- everyone said the same things..."I am so glad I found them. I could not do it without them. They are excellent. Great Service."

Reluctantly, I decided to look on their website. At first I did not want to spend anymore money on anything- I was tired and cranky and not full of pleasant thoughts. I had put so much work into this already, but I had to do something- I had to keep moving forward

The minute I decided on Chrislands, the burden was lifted. Lance answered my questions, every last one of them. In a matter of days, my website was done.

DONE.

I couldn't believe it. Everything was perfect- and the best part about it was that I saved my time, my sanity and I did not have to do another thing! No more worry.

Everything about this site is easy. Chrislands still answers questions when I have them. The site is easy to upload to and easy to maintain. I trust the accuracy of my site more than I do Amazon, Abe or Biblio. The best part is that it's mine and I can run it the way I want to

I am kicking myself for not looking into Chrislands earlier. My bookstore could have been up and running in a matter of days as opposed to months. Live and Learn...Live and Learn.

Ah...the domain!

As a very computer literate guy, I'll do this website my self! I buy a copy of Microsoft FrontPage (TM) and start loading up the pages to my new provider.

After weeks of bleary eyed web page work, I then have to buy and install a 'shopping cart.' How does this thing take PayPal?

OK, now, how do I charge for shipping on my orders so the International orders and Domestic orders are different? Hey! Wait a minute... Why is the buyer on the other coast only paying 4.05 for shipping a huge 7 lb book via USPS Priority Mail?

Then I have to figure out this database thing, and how to link them together with the inventory, and then this new Froogle Feeds...Then how do I update the inventory after the book is ordered? Why am I checking the website all day for orders, can't this thing just send me an email notification when I get an order in? Can't I just print a simple invoice page without even more website work?

ARRRRGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then a fellow bookseller tells me about Chrislands, with the planets best support! I visit the Chrislands Website and read all about what my friend was talking about. I try out the test website. Wow! For a price that is the same as my Web hosting provider charged, I can have Chrislands build and run the site under my own domain name.

A week later my Website is up configured and running: I've got my inventory searchable by Google, a secure shopping cart, variable shipping rates, intrastate sales tax, I'm uploading data using the same database as I use on other Internet bookselling venues, email notification of orders, and many other customizable features I never would have figured out without hiring a programmer; and best of all I've quit my night(mare) job of being Webmaster of my domain, and I'm back to focusing my main business: The buying and selling books.

Thanks Chrislands for all you've done for me!

Our previous host (I'm sure he wants to be anonymous) convinced us to take a long and spelling intensive name (www.completetravellerbooks.com). They created a nice but search engine unfriendly intro flash. The website had a quite nice design, but that was really it. A bunch of text, nice pictures and a couple of our rare books were listed, no shopping basket. There were several severe spelling mistakes that were produced by this website design company/host. Once we wanted to change our store's opening times (a two minute task) and were charged 25 bucks. Alltogether we spent several thousand Dollars for the roughly two years of hosting and didn't sell one single book. The SEO attempts that this hosting company was providing through a third party software was totally for the birds.

That changed drastically when we switched to Chrislands. For roughly $ 120.-- a year (not including the domain name) we have a website with shopping baskets and lots of features and 100% compatibility to Booktrakker. The best thing is that we can change and add pages as much as we want. Also we get competent personal support. Now we are getting orders and are very pleased. Overall the website is more cost effective than any other third party website (Abe, Biblio, ZVAB) that we are selling books on."

Other Great Comments

We signed up for Chrislands in April 2003 and have been very happy with the website and service ever since.

The set up was very easy and resulted in a very professional, easy to use and good looking site.

There have been no problems at all in the three years we have been with Chrislands, and any questions we have had have been answered quickly and efficiently.

Lance and the Chrislands team are incredibly helpful as well as proactive in improving their site. Support is fast, accurate and pleasant. They have set up Google, Propay and Yahoo feeds included in the incredibly low monthly fee. They accept graphics and will host them as well!

The service is flexible and seamless in its operation. Downtime does not exist. This is unquestionably the premier private book selling site available to vendors.

Email support issues are usually rectified for you with no effort on your part other than describing what you want.

I can hardly find enough superlatives to praise this work of art. If you are not already a Chrislands subscriber I can only say to you- do it now!

Sincerely yours
Kenny

I have had my site going on 3 years, although I still need to do alot of work on it, I was very happy with the manner Lance set it up. And he has always been extremely patient and generous in his replies.

My site still does not get the sales that I would like to see, so that I can get away from some of the listing services; however, I have had some very nice sales. Everyone who has visited my site is very complimentary, and related that they found it one of the easiest sites to use.

My experience has been wonderful, and I have met some very nice knowledgeable dealers through Chrislands. When I started I had just closed a B&M store. I had little inventory as I changed my focus, and was still in the process of building my on-line identity and inventory.

I also watched Chrislands grow; and find it a refreshing experience to be associated with people that are interested in seeing their customers businesses grow and flourish, by taking the initiative in staying on top of the market as it continually changes.

I have been approached by many other web companies, but feel that Chrislands has served me very well and honestly. I hope to have many successful years of association with them.

Thank you,
